ENGLISH WEEK 2024 | 'Seizing the moment:' Poetry event brings words to life

If a picture paints a thousand words, then these English majors have transformed poems into vivid images of love and hope for the English language.

This spirit was greatly evident on 12 November as students from the BSE-ENG and BSE-EngChi programs participated in the Poetry Reading Competition held in Room 108.

Through the leadership of Ms. Keziah Casison, the Council's Auditor, the event featured eleven students whose love for poetry led them to write original compositions centering on the power of the global language in bridging cultures and linking to the world.

The students presented their poems before a panel of judges, who assessed both the written works and the performance of each participant. After the readings, the judges provided constructive feedback, encouraging the students to refine and improve their craft.

The BSE-English Council extends its appreciation to the judges who willingly attended the event, namely: Ms. Jaimelyn Manalili-Abarquez, Dr. Jayson Dechavez, and Ms. Rizza Mae Villanueva. Their careful guidance and commitment to excellence propels the Society to seize even greater heights.
